It’s been a while. And I’ve had some time off this week so my chores are all caught up (ok, that’s not really true – but most…ok…some of my chores are caught up). And I’m avoiding the chores I still have to do (there. are. just. too. many), so I thought I’d pop in and chat a bit today and share a few things that I’m loving for summer.
Summer is here, friends! It’s that time of year when the humidity kicks in to overdrive so that your skin never really feels like it dries after a shower. Which can make getting into your jeans something of an Olympic sport – complete with high kicks, squats, and lots of jumping up and down. Please tell me I’m not the only one who experiences this.
Wearing shorts is pretty much my least favorite thing on the planet, and for years I refused to do it. My legs are…well…let’s just say they’re not my best feature. But there are days when either a.) I’ve already had my workout, and don’t feel like going through the routine mentioned above, or b.) just don’t feel like torturing myself with unnecessary sweating on 90+ degree days so I give in and throw on a pair of shorts. Finding shorts that are cute, comfy, and flattering is a whole other challenge, but I cannot say enough about this pair.
Super comfy, super cute, super flattering – these check all the boxes.
I also just picked up one of these linen tanks. I have it in black (which looks cute with the above btw), and love it so much I think I may need to get one in every color now.
Lightweight, loose but still flattering, and cute lace detail – the perfect summer tank.
And while we’re talking about looking cute this summer, I could not survive without this hair product. I use it all year long, but it is essential during the summer months for keeping my crazy thick, coarse, wavy hair under control. I work a small amount into damp hair, do a quick blow dry of my roots, and let the rest air dry – easiest hair routine ever. I also follow up with this product – which I’ve been using for a few years and absolutely love – but noticed a big difference when I added the Smooth Infusion into my daily routine last year.
On the home stuff front – not much is being accomplished around here. We’re playing catch up from all the craziness throughout the past winter and spring – one of the reasons I’ve been so absent on the blog – so no big revelations on the kitchen, or the bedroom makeover, or really much of anything. Sad, I know – but that’s just how real life goes sometimes. Now that the weather is nice, I’ve been chipping away at trying to create some sense of order in the yard – I will get some landscaping in the front this year if it kills me – but it’s all extremely overwhelming, and quite frankly I don’t know what the heck I’m doing out there, so it’s a slow process thus far.
I recently came across this little house on Pinterest.
How adorable, am I right?! Dutch colonial dreams right there. And I think I need window boxes.
I was super excited to see this chair in the new Ikea catalog. I always love this style of chair – and this one comes at such an affordable price. I have yet to make it into the store to see if it’s as comfy as it is cute, but it’s on my list of things to check out.
It took everything I had not to come home with this pillow when I spotted it at Target. I told myself I had enough throw pillows for the time being (I must not have been feeling well that day) and decided to play around with what I already had at home. Say what?? I will never do something so foolish again. Nothing against my current pillows, but…
How perfect are those stripes for summer? I think I need to go back to Target…
And while I’m there I should probably grab one of these baskets.
Perfect for keeping an extra throw or two nearby for when summer nights turn a little chilly.
Let’s see…what else is new…?
Did you all catch Big Little Lies on HBO? I thought they did a pretty good job with it. Not quite as good as the book (they never are), and I was a little disappointed in the ending, but the acting was top notch and it was filmed beautifully. Definitely worth the time, in my opinion.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely add this book to your bookshelf. I love what they’re doing with old houses – these two really get it. I enjoyed every single page. Plus, I believe they have a show coming out soon.
Did you all catch the amazing makeover of this cottage? It’s amazing from top to bottom. Every corner. Every room. This girl knows how to work neutrals. Inspiration to the max.
I’m totally dying over that rug. Ok – I’m totally dying over that entire kitchen. 😉
And that’s what I’m loving as of late. What have you been reading, watching, loving lately? Anything I should know about? Let me hear about it! Hope you’re all having a great weekend. 🙂 🙂
P.S. I actually pulled my camera out for the first time in weeks the other day, so new posts coming soon!
