So in case you haven’t noticed – I’ve been struggling a little getting back into the routine of things.
These last few months have been draining on so many levels, and the past couple of weeks have been extra hectic, so creativity has kind of been on leave around this house – but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things (for real this time!) soon.
Over the weekend, I even attempted to get started on a couple little projects I’ve been wanting to do, but hit roadblocks both times – so frustrating when that happens! – so instead, I spent a little time thinking about what I want to hang over the bed in our bedroom.
I think deciding what to hang over a bed and over a couch are the two areas that always give me the most trouble. For one, the walls they usually sit on tend to be large blank canvases (so many options/too many options), and for another, both a bed and a couch tend to be focal points on their own – so I feel like whatever goes over them needs to compliment and not compete.
I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to do quite yet, but I’ve got it narrowed down two or three things. And I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ideas to share with you today…
A collection of botanical prints adds instant elegance.
Custom built-ins add dimensions and extra storage.
A chippy white shelf for farmhouse flair.
Custom trim work that doubles as a shelf and painted in a bold color is a great alternative to a headboard.
A gallery wall of collected art makes a gorgeous statement.
I love when a bed can sit in front of a window. Windows that are located at just the right height make a perfect focal point.
You can never go wrong with a large, architectural mirror.
I love the result of these white picture ledges to showcase collected photos and art with mix and match frames. This is on my short list.
Small mirrors grouped together add big style.
Oversized vintage map + ornate frame = stunning.
Salvaged window frames add cottage charm.
