Although the weather has for the most part felt like anything but fall this season, I’m still going about my business indulging in all my favorite seasonal traditions.
I’ve been baking on 80 degree days.
I officially retired my flip flops for the year and wear boots no matter how warm the day is supposed to get.
I’ve been cooking up soup, and chili, and other favorite comfort food even though the evenings are still perfectly pleasant for grilling outside.
While most are thrilled to see the warm days continue as we head into the middle of October, I can’t help but be just a bit disgusted every time I see a temp that starts with a 7 or an 8 in the forecast.
I might even pout a little about it.
I feel like I’m being cheated.
In an effort to cheer myself up over the shortage of gloriously crisp fall days so far this October, I decided to add a little plaid and a little pumpkin love around the house – two of my favorite combos for fall.
I didn’t change much – just swapped out a throw and a few pillows on the sofa…
And sprinkled a pumpkin here and there…
How cute are these little carved wood pumpkins from Target? I was trying to make use of things I already had this fall season, but I spotted those and simply could not say no.
Can you blame me?
Same goes for the dining room.
A few extra leafy branches, and a pumpkin or two.
I love simple updates like this. It just goes to prove that you don’t always have to spend days redecorating your whole house every time the weather changes. Little touches carried from room to room are a subtle nod to the season and can be done in just a short amount of time.
Which means you get more time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the coziness of your home. 🙂
Have a beautiful fall weekend, friends!
