Even with all the rearranging and decorating and cleaning in the living room, I managed to make a little progress in the office over the weekend too.
I have used the same wood desk chair for close to ten years. Jordan saved it from the dumpster years ago when he worked for a surveyor. It’s always been in rough shape, but things like that have never bothered me too much, so I just embraced the imperfections – it’s still a solid piece of furniture and with my hodgepodge of office furnishings, it never felt too out of place.
But now with the new office coming together, that lovely vintage chair really started to show its age.
There really was no denying it – it was time for a little makeover.
What’s the easiest, cheapest way to update a piece of furniture?
Paint, of course!
So I grabbed a can of white chalk paint (Lace by Vintage Market & Design) and went to work. Two coats of paint and a layer of wax and that sweet old chair went from this
I picked up a new chair cushion and now I have a cute and comfy place to sit and get some work done.
You also may spy a fabulous little something hanging on the wall behind the chair.
I found this cabinet at my favorite shop, Lucky Junk – and I just could not walk away from it. It was a splurge, but it was one of those finds that grabbed a hold of me and I knew I would deeply regret it if I left without it.
I have yet to fill it with all sorts of office goodies, but doesn’t it look perfect back in that little corner? I love everything about it – the color, the simple design, the dings, the scratches, the paint splatters.
And that sweet little keyhole?
I can’t even.
Vintage. Cabinet. Perfection. *sigh*
Finding this little cabinet – I say little, but it’s actually a decent size and weighs a ton – is what spurred this office makeover into action. It was like the missing piece to the puzzle and everything came together in my brain the second my eyes landed on it.
Now I just have a couple more projects to go, and this room can be decorated and considered done. It’s getting close! 🙂
Have a beautiful day, friends!
P.S. Looks like I’ll have a dog warming my feet while I work away, too. You know Alice always has to sneak in for at least one photo. 😉
