I’m back with Part 2 of our office makeover – the desk!
For the last few months I have been searching high and low for an antique table to use as a desk in my office, but sadly I have not had much luck.
This room is itty bitty teeny tiny – coming in at a whopping 7’ x 9’ – so finding something with enough work surface, but still manageable in size within the tiny limits of the room, is tough to do.
Oh, and did I mention there is a closet in the middle of the room, so space has to be left to allow the door to open and close?
Because a 63 square foot room isn’t challenging enough, right?
I did consider removing the door, but in the end decided that was going to be a busier look than I was going for in here.
To be honest, I felt a bit like Goldilocks with this desk hunt…
This one too tall…this one too short…this one too wide…this one too small…
Not one of them seemed to be “just right”.
So I planned on having Jordan build me a simple desk/table to my specifications, but his plate is pretty full at the moment (hence the delay with those front steps), so when I surprisingly won a World Market gift card through an Instagram contest – I knew just what to do with it.
I bought a desk. 🙂
There were a lot of attractive, stylish desks to choose from, but in the end I chose the Campaign Desk for its simple design, weathered gray finish, and expansive, yet narrow, work space.
I feel like the color of this desk is fair enough to not weigh the room down – no easy task as it takes up half the space – yet versatile enough to work with the other, darker wood tones I will be adding to the room. Now I can’t wait to start bringing those elements in and begin putting this whole space together.
I noticed that my vintage wood desk chair looks pretty shabby up against this new desk, so I have a little makeover planned for that sweet old chair. Stay tuned for more on that.
Have a great weekend, friends! 🙂
