Our little upstairs hallway is making quite a bit of progress. Shortly after I posted a look at some of my favorite black and white rugs (you can read that post here), I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one – and boy did it make a difference in that little hall space.
Because I love seeing a room’s progression over the years (in this case it’s been about four), here’s a quick look…
When we bought the house…
The first paint color…
The second paint color (and a prettier light)…
With the addition of the gallery wall…
I ended up choosing the Kyle Striped Rug from Pottery Barn. It was on sale, came in the right size, and I liked how it coordinated with the rest of the rugs around here with its neutral, natural colored backdrop.
I think it really grounds this little space and makes it feel more “room-like”.
I also had Jordan hang a lantern I had stored away for some added dimension on the wall.
And now I get a smile on my face whenever I pass thru this hallway of ours because I’m just so happy with how it’s coming to life. There are still a few things I’d like to do yet, but I think it has become quite charming, don’t you? 🙂
Who wants to hear a funny story about when I was purchasing this rug?
You’re all raising your hands, thinking “I do! I do!” right?
Even if you’re not, I’m going to tell you anyway.
Sooo…I tend to be impatient when I decide I want something, so I drove to a nearby Pottery Barn (maybe 30 minutes away) hoping it would be in stock. It wasn’t, but they offered to place the online order for me right then. I handed the cashier my driver’s license for the shipping info and she recognized our address. Turns out her brother and sister-in-law used to live right.next.door to us. Not only that, the in-laws originally built that house, so she was very familiar with the neighborhood and previous family of our home.
It really is a small world, isn’t it? 🙂
Ok…so it wasn’t that funny…at all…but I did think it was kind of crazy.
I mean, what are the odds…?
