With all the talk of the front porch…and the back porch…and the landscaping…and the bathroom…and the office, you’re probably thinking I have abandoned our bedroom makeover. It’s still very much in the works – but I’ve decided I need to let it evolve on its own, instead of forcing it along.
I don’t know about you, but a lot of the time I feel like everyone else starts and finishes projects over night, and I often feel the pressure to do the same. But the truth is, sometimes I don’t know exactly what I want – or I can’t find exactly what I want – and when I start making choices for the sole purpose of getting a project complete, I almost always end up disappointed, frustrated, and wanting a do-over. So now, whenever I reach a sticking point or lose interest, I simply take a break and wait for the inspiration to strike again – sometimes it’s days, sometimes it’s months, and sometimes it might even be years, but I’m always happier in the end.
So this room has not been forgotten – it’s just taking longer than I originally hoped. But just because it isn’t currently what I would like it to be, doesn’t mean I can’t show it a bit of love and introduce a little touch of spring.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are all you need. I brought home a bouquet of simple white flowers from the grocery store, and rounded up a variety of basic glass bud vases – a collection of vintage bottles would be fabulous here too – and lined them up on that metal display shelf Jordan made for me last summer. I love how the softness from the flowers and bud vases works with the industrial feel of the shelf. I think they pair well together.
This display would look pretty on any shelf, ledge, console table, or mantel. Consider adding books for added height and extra interest – that would be cute too. 🙂
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! 🙂
