Sorry guys – this post was supposed to happen much earlier, but time got away from me, and we spent the majority of today travelling, but that’s ok because I am officially on vacation for the remainder of the week. Yay!!
I am super excited to celebrate Thanksgiving in Michigan. This will be our first Thanksgiving spent back “home” with everyone in six years – I can’t wait to have my dad’s famous turkey and my mom’s delicious apple pie. Yum!
I’m also super excited for Black Friday shopping with my mom. We had a long running tradition of getting up and out the door bright and early to snag as many bargains as we could. It was never really about the shopping as much as it was about the fun – it was an unofficial kickoff to Christmas of sorts and I’m so happy we’ll be resuming the tradition this year.
Speaking of shopping, I thought I would put together a list of some of my favorite things to help with your holiday gift giving this year. These are all things I use and love and are sure to delight the “homebody” on your list. 🙂
1. Pottery Barn Faux Fur Throw
Jordan gave me one of these throws for Christmas a few years ago – and it is by far one of my most favorite things ever. It is super warm for those chilly winter nights, luxuriously soft, oh-so cuddly and looks beautiful draped over the arm of your sofa to boot. I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t love to find one of these throws under the tree.
2. L.L. Bean Wicked Good Slippers
I live in these slippers all winter long and I’m actually a little sad when the temps start to rise and it becomes to warm to wear them day in and day out.
3. The Comfort Table: Recipes for Everyday Occasions by Katie Lee
I love to bake, but I’m not much of a cook. I have found Katie Lee’s recipes to be easy, fail safe, and delicious – even with my limited cooking skills. Seriously, anything I have ever made out of her cookbooks has been crazy good. I have all three of her books, but I think this one is my favorite.
4. L.L. Bean Boat and Tote Bag
This bag is perfect for road trips, office days or weekend errands. And I never head to the flea market without it – it’s perfect for carting around all those treasures I find.
5. Bath and Body Works “Winter” Scented Candle
This candle smells just like a fresh snow. Need I say more? 🙂
6. Pottery Barn Linen Quilt
I stalked this quilt for months waiting for it to go on sale – and even then it was a splurge – but let me tell you, it is worth every single penny. It is the perfect weight to use on its own during the warmer months, and layers well with your duvet to keep things cozy when it gets colder. Plus it looks absolutely beautiful on the bed and will work with any décor.
7. A Life Less Ordinary by Zoe Ellison and Alex Legendre
I stumbled across this book while browsing Barnes and Noble one day. It is page after page of stunning photography featuring beautiful displays and gorgeous spaces. The use of texture throughout this book is nothing less than inspiring – the perfect coffee table book.
8. J. Crew Plaid Scarf
I’m obsessed with plaid this year. This scarf was love at first sight – I get compliments every single time I wear it.
9. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Chilly winter nights are perfect for snuggling in with a good book. This might be one of the most beautiful love stories ever – I was completely lost in it and it might just be one of my most favorite books of all time.
10. Threshold Monogram Coffee Mug
I love lounging around with a cup (or two) of coffee on a Sunday morning. Drinking from these cute mugs just makes it that much better (the mugs I have are no longer available, but these are just as cute). 🙂
No more posts from me this week, but I’ll be back next week and I’ll hopefully have some Christimas decorating to share with you. I hope you all have a beautiful holiday weekend with your families. Happy Thanksgiving!!
