“The fondest memories are made while gathered ’round the table.”
I had a little fun over the past weekend playing around with a fall inspired tablescape. We won’t be having Thanksgiving in our home this year, but I wanted to share in case you were looking for inspiration to dress up your table for the upcoming holiday.
You don’t dress your table for imaginary dinner parties for fun on the weekends?
Boy are you missing out on a good time.
Of course, I actually do find this stuff fun, but you already knew I was weird like that… 🙂
I started by layering a linen table runner over a jute runner. They were a lot closer in size than I thought they were, but just enough of the jute peeks out from under the linen to provide a bit of depth and texture.
I rounded up a few of my favorite candlesticks and lined them up down the center of the table, then added a couple of twiggy pumpkins and mercury glass pumpkins – a bit of sparkle with a rustic touch. 🙂
For each place setting I started with a silver charger. I almost always go straight to my wicker chargers when setting a table, but I wanted a bit of contrast and layering the two seemed too heavy for this setting, so silver it was.
I layered a dinner plate, a salad plate, a charcoal striped napkin for a “little pop”, and topped each setting off with a bundle of mini Indian corn from the grocery store.
Mocha colored glass goblets and a plaid throw over the bench tie all the browns and grays together, sprinkle in a few tea lights, and just like that your table is D.O.N.E.
The best thing about this table is that I had everything on hand except for the corn. It’s ok that none of the pumpkins match or that the candlesticks are all different sizes – just use what is available to you and make it work. 🙂
