I was so sure of what I wanted that room to be and how I was going to get it done. Sure, there were a few details I still had to figure out, but for the most part I was pretty confident about how I was going to make that room a whole new, beautiful space.
I rearranged the furniture, found new bedding, bought and painted a new dresser (still not happy with that by the way), had Jordan make an awesome shelf (you can see that here), and finally laid down the rug I purchased about six months prior.
And that’s when I hit a wall.
Total. Dead. End.
I’ve been waiting for the ideas to start flowing again…
But they just simply haven’t…
A couple of years ago, this design roadblock would have me in a panic, running from store to store in search of the perfect solution. Surely, the answer to all my decorating dilemmas would be found out at the stores, right?
Usually the only thing that frantic searching and shopping accomplished was a depleted bank account and more stuff coming into my house that I simply liked instead of loved. Which resulted in a room that I simply liked instead of loved.
While I still get frustrated when I hit these delays, I no longer panic. I simply take a break and move on to something else. Which is exactly why you haven’t seen any progress from that room in a while. Creating a home you love takes time – there’s really no need to rush, and it’s usually worth the wait.
Lately, I can feel the hint of renewed inspiration sneaking into the corners of my brain. It’s not all there yet, but I’m getting the itch to start working on it again – and I think I want to focus on a new bed.
Problem is, I can’t decide what I want: upholstered, rustic, dark wood, painted, iron – so many beautiful choices, and I can see them all working in the room. What’s a girl to do?
For the longest time, I have wanted an iron bed. I love the antique look and simple lines. Plus the open design would allow me to place the bed in front of the side window without compromising too much light – something I’ve wanted to do since day one.
And then I see beautiful upholstered beds, and I love those too! They look cozy and sophisticated and oh-so “grown up”.
Or what about something with a lovely weathered wood and upholstery combination like this one?
Or the gorgeous color and texture of a woven headboard similar to this one?
And then I still love this headboard from my original post. I would probably go with a slightly darker color, but I really love the rustic look and feel.
Like I said, too many choices!!!
I still need some time to let these thoughts come together, but the wheels are starting to turn. I’m curious, which one would you choose?
P.S. Most of these exact beds are probably out of my price range – while I don’t doubt they’re beautifully made and top notch quality, I’m in a bit of sticker shock at the moment. Who knew beds were so expensive?? I’m just using them for inspiration…
And may need to save up more $$ than I thought… 🙂
