So… I have a lot of projects hanging out there that are in various stages. Some are close to being done, some are coming along nicely, and others are just in the beginning stages. And of course there are dozens in the works inside my head. In case you haven’t noticed, I tend to jump from one idea to the next – yeah, it’s a problem…I’m working on it.
Anyway, I thought I’d take a moment today to go over a few things and give you all an idea of where I’m at and what to look forward to coming up. 🙂
Oh that door and those shutters! Before I start, let me first say that there is nothing wrong with either of them. I change things a lot and tweak things a lot, not because there is something wrong necessarily, but just because A) I get bored easily and decorating is a happy place for me, and B) if I have a picture in my head and it’s not coming to life, I have a hard time letting it go – even if what is in front of me is perfectly fine.
Here’s the thing – I never wanted dark shutters.
It’s not that I don’t think they look great, because I do, I love them – but it wasn’t at all in my original plan and so I think I’m trying to compensate for the boldness of the shutters with a softer looking door. Out of the colors I featured in my recent post, I liked the color Rainstorm the most. Jordan actually favored Half Moon Crest. Most everyone else picked the darker colors (Black Iron and Westcott Navy being the most popular). Ultimately we have decided to…leave it as is! Lol.
We realized that because there wasn’t a stand out color – nothing that jumped out at us and screamed “the one” – we might as well leave the light gray for now and allow the rest of the front to come together. Once the steps are redone and landscaping is in, we can decide then if we want to make changes.
Speaking of steps, I’m leaning toward a look similar to this…
And sometimes I think it would be nice to cover the chimney in fieldstone veneer similar to this picture I saw forever ago in an issue of This Old House…
What do you think?
Powder Room Stuff:
I haven’t talked much about this room. It’s a teeny tiny half bath that has been under reno for way.too.long. Like embarrassingly long. It’s close to being wrapped up though, so I’m going to try to buckle down and get it complete soon.
Bedroom Makeover Stuff:
I’m working on this room as we speak. Dresser makeover is nearly complete, I found new bedding and ordered some blinds to use with drapes I have tucked away somewhere downstairs. I’m also compiling some fun vintage pieces I’ve had stored away (some of it for years) – I love shopping my own house. 🙂
Over the weekend, I was looking through a magazine and came across this headboard.
I love the combination of the rustic weathered wood with the simple and slightly curved design. I’m certain I know a guy who is super talented, smart, and incredibly handsome, and I’m pretty sure he could build this in his sleep (hint, hint, J! Love you! 🙂 ).
I want to finally get the living room arranged the way I’d like so I can try it out for a while and decide if we will be able to open that doorway to the kitchen. That should be taking place this weekend (the rearranging, not the door opening part).
Still searching for a new chair. Jordan wants a leather chair – and predictably he wants it to recline. I’m trying to find something that isn’t huge and overly masculine, but still meets the leather/recliner criteria. What do you think of this one?
Ok, if you’re still reading…ummm…you’re a rockstar. Guess I was feeling chatty today! 🙂 As you can see, I have lots of fun stuff coming up (and a few more things I didn’t even mention) – can’t wait to share it all with you along the way! 🙂
