I mentioned on Monday that I made an impulsive decision last weekend for a front door color. I was picking up some chalk paint for an upcoming project when I was drawn to a color on the chart called French Linen (by Vintage Market & Design).
I have had numerous suggestions for brighter, bolder color choices for the front door, and I don’t disagree that they would look beautiful – but bright and bold are just not me. Hand me a color chart and my eye skips right over the “color” and heads straight to the neutrals. Every. Single. Time.
As much as I would love to do a pretty blue or vibrant yellow – I am just not sure I would be happy with it. I think I would constantly feel as if I were walking through someone else’s front door. So, I gave this soothing, pale gray a try instead.
As I was painting the door, I was completely in love with this color. I thought it was the perfect light gray with just the tiniest hint of green. But on the house…umm…I’m not so sure.
Jordan likes it, and I don’t hate it, so I suppose I could give it a try for a while. If I allow my mind to picture the house with landscaping and pretty new steps (maybe some sort of stone?), I start to see that maybe it could be quite charming, but I’m still not one hundred percent sold. Guess this is what happens when you have a plan for three years and change it at the very last second. Oops. 🙂
What do you think of this color?
