I am normally a cold weather person, but the recent run of warmer days after a very cold February has me looking forward to the warmer months this year, and the nice weather put me in the mood to brighten things up inside the house. I was short on time so I wanted something that would be simple and quick, but still bring the freshness of spring indoors.
I still have additional changes I’d like to make to the cabinet display for spring, but I was going for quick and easy this time, so I chose to just remove the branches that were displayed in the bottle the past couple of months and popped in the cherry blossoms.
I also swapped out the heavy throw and chunkier-knit pillow covers that were on the sofa, for those with a bit lighter feel and texture. I’m still deciding what I want to do as far as pillows and accent colors go, so I used what I had – and it works ok for now.
Shortly after the holidays, I hung these wire metal baskets next to the fireplace and stacked them with old books. On a recent trip to Ikea, I grabbed a couple of plants and small metal pots. I placed them in the top basket and I’m kind of liking how they look. I’ll probably make a quick trip back and grab two more for the bottom basket. Although they’re not real, the green just makes me think spring.
In the dining room, I placed a couple of cotton stems that I had purchased online in a large vase for the center of the table. They make such a statement and I am absolutely in love with their simplicity and texture.
These were all simple and quick changes – it was really just a matter of swapping out one thing for another – and I feel like my home got a mini-makeover. Love that!
